Book recommendation: FryeWerk 2.0 by John A. Frye

One of the best concept design books I’ve discovered recently is FryeWerk 2.0 by John A. Frye. Frye, a designer with a background in vehicle design at Honda, shares his passion for cars through a stunning collection of concept vehicle illustrations.

His style isn’t strictly realistic — it’s dynamic, detailed, and full of movement. The beauty of this book lies in the variety of techniques he uses. Some pages take you through the process from the first rough sketch to the final rendering, while others present complete lines of imaginary, futuristic products inspired by scale models.

What I really like about this book is how openly Frye shares his way of thinking. The step-by-step look into his creative process gives real insight into how he develops ideas and makes design decisions. His enthusiasm for experimenting with form and exploring new concepts comes through on every page.

As a designer, I find it incredibly inspiring — a reminder of how important it is to keep sketching, exploring, and staying playful in the creative process.

If you’re into concept design, mobility, or just love seeing imagination meet craftsmanship, this book is well worth a look.
